The CM DP module extends the CPU 1510SP-1 PN / 1512SP-1 PN to include a PROFIBUS DP interface. Which enables either a lower-level or a higher-level PROFIBUS DP line to be established. This has the following advantages:

Offloading of the central controller by means of distributed preprocessing
CPU 1510SP-1 PN or CPU 1512SP-1 PN possible in standalone mode as DP master

Communication options of the ET 200SP-CPU via CM DP module:

As master for PROFIBUS DP according to IEC 61158/EN 50170 for 125 DP slaves
As intelligent DP slave for higher-level DP master on PROFIBUS DP

The CM DP communication module features all the advantages of the ET 200SP design:

Compact design:
- 9-pin D-sub socket for connection to PROFIBUS DP
- The module is supplied with power via the integrated backplane bus
- "DIAG" LED for indicating the operational and communication status
Simple installation:
- The CM DP module is snapped onto the DIN rail and connected with the ET 200SP CPU
- The CM DP module is always to be positioned immediately to the right of the ET 200SP CPU
- Only one CM DP module can be operated per ET 200SP CPU.
User-friendly wiring:
The D-sub socket is easily accessible and simple to use.

Master for PROFIBUS DP

The CM DP module operates as a DP-V1 master and processes the data transfer completely independently. It also supports the acyclic standard services, including interrupt handling. During normal operation, it is also possible to activate or deactivate DP slaves. Among other things, this allows the step-by-step commissioning of subprocesses. A diagnostic repeater allows the line to be diagnosed during operation, enabling line faults to be detected at an early stage. The CM DP module supports operation with a diagnostic repeater (including activation of topology identification on the diagnostic repeater).

It is possible to connect PROFIBUS slaves, e.g. CM 1242-5 as a DP slave, DP slaves of the ET 200 distributed I/O, etc.

This creates the possibility for the ET 200SP CPU of setting up a further distributed I/O in addition to the network of the integrated PROFINET interface.

DP slave for PROFIBUS DP

The CM DP module operates as a DP slave and processes the data transfer completely independently. It thus connects the ET 200SP CPU as intelligent slave to a higher-level DP master.

This creates the possibility for the ET 200SP CPU being connected to an existing PROFIBUS DP network as intelligent slave in addition to the network of the integrated PROFINET interface.

The CM DP module can be operated as DP slave on the following DP masters:

SIMATIC S7-1200, S7-300, S7-400, S7-1500
ET 200 CPUs and CPs with one DP master interface
Third-party systems with PROFIBUS DP master interface (via a GSD file).

PG/OP communication

PG/OP communication allows all S7 stations connected to the network to be remotely programmed.

S7 routing: With the aid of routing it is possible to use programming device communication across different networks.

S7 communication

S7 communication is used for the coupling

between SIMATIC S7 automation systems
and programming devices (PG/OP communication)
to PCs, e.g. CP 5711 with SOFTNET-PB S7, CP 5623 etc.
and HMI devices (OPs).

Time synchronization

Time synchronization is used to set the time of day throughout the plant.

The CM DP module is capable of forwarding the time of day of the ET 200SP CPU to PROFIBUS. Conversely, the CM DP of the CPU can make an existing time on PROFIBUS available.

Data set routing

The CM DP module supports the "data record" routing function. With this option, the CM can be used as a router for data records that need to be sent to field devices (DP slaves). Data records from devices that are not connected directly to PROFIBUS and therefore have no direct access to the DP slaves are forwarded to the DP slaves by the CM.

Configuration

STEP 7 Professional V13, Update 3 (TIA Portal) or higher is required for configuring the full range of functions of the CM DP module. The configuration data of the CM is always saved on the CPU and retained even after a PLC failure. It is therefore possible to replace a module without having to reload the configuration data from a programming device.

A prerequisite for the DP Slave functionality is FW V1.7 of the ET 200SP CPU or higher.

Configuration and programming of all SIMATIC S7 controllers connected to the network is possible over the network.
